A position is available in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Southampton for a Research Fellow. The position is based at Southampton General Hospital within the Public Health Group at the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education, and is funded by the NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre. The post holder will undertake research to support the Preconception Partnership’s objectives towards optimising preconception health, including generating the metrics for the Preconception Health Report Card for England. Working within a team, the post holder will primarily be responsible for planning, conducting and delivering high quality research aligned to this specified programme of research.
You will be educated to degree level and must have either a PhD*, or be nearing the completion of one, in a health/public health/nutrition or social science research field. Previous experience of working on health-related studies utilising quantitative data analysis techniques is essential. Competence in using Stata and/or R for statistical modelling is desirable. You will possess excellent organisational, communication and computing skills, and must have experience of effectively working as part of a team.
*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
