Environmental Services Facilities Technician

35 hours per week
£21,008 – £22,742 (including Distant Islands Allowance)

We are looking to recruit an Environmental Services Facilities Technician to monitor the receipt, inspection and validation of wastes brought to Council facilities for disposal or processing as outlined in the Service Plan and in accordance with Environmental Legislation, Health and Safety Legislation and Council Policies.

You will undertake weighbridge operations, maintaining and updating records and files relating to manual and automated recording systems, ensuring the monitoring and recording of the receipt, inspection and validation of all waste types brought to the site for transfer or treatment is provided.

You will deputise for the Environmental Services Facilities Supervisor, as and when necessary.

You will also undertake operational duties as and when appropriate by being responsible individually or as part of a team, for the operation of a waste disposal site, landfill site or transfer station. Duties will include driving associated vehicles and operate plant and equipment at the site.

It is essential you have a SVQ level 2 or other equivalent (SCQF level 5) qualification or a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an operational environment. One year’s experience in operating a Waste Disposal Site or equivalent operational experience is desirable.

A full driving licence to enable driving of Category B vehicles including Car/Van within the UK is essential.
